Clockwork stuff

Optimist: is someone who always sees the bright side of any situation
I think my mum is optimistic because she is always happy when something is bad.

Pessimist: they always see the worst.
When we were in a meeting krys was pessimistic since he was talking about bad things.

Oscillate: it moves back and forth in a steady motion.
When I came in the room it was cold that's was when I realised the fan was oscillating.

Cog: An engine needs each of its part to work. It has gears which have wheels.
The cog rotated by itself, it did not rotated, then both rotated and it worked.

Dynasty: is a series of leaders in the same family
The Chinese dynasty is very important, without them the world would be trouble.

Heir: If your grandfather leaves his candy factory to in his will, you are the heir.
The heir to my family is me becuase I found my grandpa will and it was to me.

Glower: it's to stare angrily.
When I looked at Christopher he glowerd becuase I got a higher mark in maths.

2. How they are described
Gretl: Hard-working pg12 Gretl the little barmaid, the landlords daughter, was hurrying to and fro with foaming mugs and steaming plates. She is moving around so she is working hard
Karl: anxious pg12 "He's anxious about tormorrow. It say that he is anxious.
Fritz: Good writer pg15 They all enjoyed ghost stories, and Fritz's in particular, for he was a talented storyteller. He is a good writer if every body likes his work.

How do they think
Gretl: bravely pg84 The higher she climbed. This is brave because she is going up.
Karl: Worryied to face the people pg17 I can not face them. He is scared to,see people.
Fritz: Creatively I am looking forward to this  lesson.

How they act:
Gretl: Bravely pg 83 she kept on climbing up
Karl: Worryingly. Pg16 put poison in it
Fritz: Scaredly pg92 he had fled to another part of Germany

How they change
Gretl: Braver pg83 she ran to the dark tower
Karl: Greedly pg36 He ask for a figure for the clock
Fritz: Cowardly pg92 Fritz left town

There role in the story:
Gretl: To share a heart. Pg92 she had lost her heart and kept it too
Karl: To make a figure pg17 I haven't made a figure
Fritz: To write a story. Pg15 Fritz in particular

What happens at the end of the story.
Gretl: she shared her heart pg92 she lost her heart and kept it to.
Fritz: he left pg92 He left the town
Karl: he died pg83 he lay dead beside him
3. The authors thinks a artistic temperant is a waste of time.

4. The phrase in the sentence ' as sound as a bell', it means somebody is healthy
The phrase in the sentence ' as true as a clock' , it means somebody is perfect
The metaphor is her heart lift, this means she was sad.
5. The beginning:(pg 8) If you play with it carelessly it'll sping up and strike at you like a snake and put out your eye.- This is a simile because it says like a snake.
The beg/mid: (pg25) Instead there was a little piece of clockwork:just a few dogs and springs and a balance wheel, attached in subtle ways to the prince veins a tick-tick-ticking away merrily in perfect time with the lashing of his arms.- This is onamatapeia because it says tick tick.
The middle: (pg54) "can't you just wind him up." This is speech because it is someone talking.
The mid/end: (pg83) The higher she climbed, the more noise the clock made: a ticking and a tocking, a clicking and a creaking, whirring and a rumbling.mThis is onamatapeia becuase it makes clock noises.
The end: (pg91) 'It's full of miscellaneous bits and pieces, and they're not even connected up properly: broken springs, wheels with cogs missing, rusty gear- worthless rubbish, all of it. -This is a list of stuff in clockwork because it says cogs, rusty gears and rubbish.

Bonus

The way it is like a clock since the book goes forward and a clock goes forward.
It is full of clock parts and a clock is full of clock parts.

The scholarship jacket

The scholarship jacket is coming of age and realistic fiction.

Coming of age

“So if you are unable to pay the fifteen dollars for the jacket it will be given to the next one in line.” This is coming of age becuase she needs to make a choice if she will pay or if she will not pay for the jacket.

I was fourteen and in the eighth grade. This is coming of age because in coming of age there are young people in this story there is young people.

Realistic fiction

In May, close to graduation, spring fever had struck as usual with a vengeance.  This is realistic fiction because in all schools you graduate and this is event that could happen in a school.

The small Texas school that I went , this is realistic fiction because Texas is a modern place.

Raymond's run

Raymond's run is a coming of age and is realistic fiction.

Raymond's run is realistic fiction and a coming of age story
Realistic Fiction:
➖After that is the forty-yard dash which I used to run when I was in first grade.
This is because the forty-yard dash is an event that could actually happen.
➖Every time, just before I take off in a race, I always feel like I’m in a dream, the kind of dream you have when you’re sick with fever and feel all hot and weightless.
Because if you're sick and have a fever its most likely you are human.

Coming of age:
➖After that is the forty-yard dash which I used to run when I was in first grade.
Because she's  in first grade so she must be young.
➖my brother Raymond, a great runner in the family tradition.
This is a coming of age because she only realizes at the end that Raymond in a great runner.
