The phrase in the sentence ' as true as a clock' , it means somebody is perfect
The metaphor is her heart lift, this means she was sad.
5. The beginning:(pg 8) If you play with it carelessly it'll sping up and strike at you like a snake and put out your eye.- This is a simile because it says like a snake.
The beg/mid: (pg25) Instead there was a little piece of clockwork:just a few dogs and springs and a balance wheel, attached in subtle ways to the prince veins a tick-tick-ticking away merrily in perfect time with the lashing of his arms.- This is onamatapeia because it says tick tick.
The middle: (pg54) "can't you just wind him up." This is speech because it is someone talking.
The mid/end: (pg83) The higher she climbed, the more noise the clock made: a ticking and a tocking, a clicking and a creaking, whirring and a rumbling.mThis is onamatapeia becuase it makes clock noises.
The end: (pg91) 'It's full of miscellaneous bits and pieces, and they're not even connected up properly: broken springs, wheels with cogs missing, rusty gear- worthless rubbish, all of it. -This is a list of stuff in clockwork because it says cogs, rusty gears and rubbish.

The scholarship jacket

The scholarship jacket is coming of age and realistic fiction.

Coming of age

“So if you are unable to pay the fifteen dollars for the jacket it will be given to the next one in line.” This is coming of age becuase she needs to make a choice if she will pay or if she will not pay for the jacket.

I was fourteen and in the eighth grade. This is coming of age because in coming of age there are young people in this story there is young people.

Realistic fiction

In May, close to graduation, spring fever had struck as usual with a vengeance.  This is realistic fiction because in all schools you graduate and this is event that could happen in a school.

The small Texas school that I went , this is realistic fiction because Texas is a modern place.

Raymond's run

Raymond's run is a coming of age and is realistic fiction.

Raymond's run is realistic fiction and a coming of age story
Realistic Fiction:
➖After that is the forty-yard dash which I used to run when I was in first grade.
This is because the forty-yard dash is an event that could actually happen.
➖Every time, just before I take off in a race, I always feel like I’m in a dream, the kind of dream you have when you’re sick with fever and feel all hot and weightless.
Because if you're sick and have a fever its most likely you are human.

Coming of age:
➖After that is the forty-yard dash which I used to run when I was in first grade.
Because she's  in first grade so she must be young.
➖my brother Raymond, a great runner in the family tradition.
This is a coming of age because she only realizes at the end that Raymond in a great runner.

Fable

There was a man called lisheng. He just married a beautiful woman. One day she wanted a coat made out of fox skin. So the man went down to buy one, however it was too expensive. So he told her and she forced him to walk in the hillside. When he was there he saw a fox. He caught it and ask for a sheet of its skin. The fox was shocked by the request. But she told him that it was easy, but first you need to let go of my tail so I can claw it of. So he let her tail go and the fox ran away in to the forest

This is a fable because there is the animal, the fox and she teaches him that it is very hard to go against your own will.

2. The Monster, at the first motion, lunged forward with a terrible scream. It covered one hundred yards in six seconds. The rifles jerked up and blazed fire. A windstorm from the beast's mouth engulfed them in the stench of slime and old blood. The Monster roared, teeth glittering with sun.
The rifles cracked again, Their sound was lost in shriek and lizard thunder. The great level of the reptile's tail swung up, lashed sideways. Trees exploded in clouds of leaf and branch. The Monster twitched its jeweler's hands down to fondle at the men, to twist them in half, to crush them like berries, to cram them into its teeth and its screaming throat. Its boulderstone eyes leveled with the men. They saw themselves mirrored. They fired at the metallic eyelids and the blazing black iris,

Metaphor: to transfer a quality from one thing to another.
Each lower leg was a piston, a thousand pounds of white bone, sunk in thick ropes of muscle, sheathed over in a gleam of pebbled skin like the mail of a terrible warrior. Each thigh was a ton of meat, ivory, and steel mesh. And from the great breathing cage of the upper body those two delicate arms dangled out front, arms with hands which might pick up and examine men like toys, while the
snake neck coiled. And the head itself, a ton of sculptured stone, lifted easily upon the sky. Its mouth gaped, exposing a fence of teeth like daggers. Its eyes rolled, ostrich eggs, empty of all expression save hunger. It closed its mouth in a death grin. It ran, its pelvic bones crushing aside trees and bushes, its taloned feet clawing damp earth, leaving prints six inches deep wherever it settled its weight.

Pejorative terms are usually offended to women such as: being a wizard is a complement but being
a witch is not. I think this happened because in the olden days women did not have a much power as men.
